International Women's Day - Lani Inlander

Lani Inlander
Founder, Real Life Style

Real Life Style is a style consulting company providing personal styling and corporate style consulting services in the DC and New York areas. Real Life Style was founded in 2006 on the belief that everyone deserves a wardrobe they love. Fashion should be fun, not frustrating!

At age 11, Lani was being mistaken for a salesperson by other customers as she would bring clothes back and forth to the fitting room for her mother and twin sister. Her precociousness notwithstanding, this was the beginning of a long career as a personal stylist/ fashion-guru/ client-cheerleader.

Lani Inlander has been helping clients look and feel their best for over 20 years. Her fashion expertise has been featured in In Style, New York Magazine, The Washington Post, Slate, and Washingtonian. She has styled segments for major television programs, including Oprah Winfrey and The View.

Lani is deeply passionate about empowering clients through fashion and helping them find clothing and accessories that fit their figures, suit their style, and boost their confidence. A Chicago native and graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York, Lani lives with her husband and two sons in Washington, DC.

Q: Describe yourself in 3 Words

A: Determined, Confident, and Adaptable

Q: Who is your style icon?

A: Nobody

Q: Do you remember your first time at Roman? How it all began?

A: I met Sakina first at an FGI event and then reconnected with her at Roman

Q: Where do you wear your Roman?

A: I wear my Roman pieces to cocktail events, to give style presentations to corporate groups, in everyday client appointments, on the weekend with my kids, and while traveling. In short, there is a Roman piece fantastically appropriate and stylish for every facet of my life. My favorite Roman piece epitomizes the flexibility of the line. My butterfly jacket pairs well with jeans for a casual appointment in a client’s closet, with tailored pants and a silk top for a day shopping on Fifth Avenue in New York, and over a black dress for a cocktail event. Two of my clients own the same jacket and Kyle, my associate stylist, has the bomber jacket in the same fabric! Roman pieces make me feel stylish, professional, and powerful .
